Pink Floyd Wins Legal Battle Against Single Track Downloads
A judge has taken Pink Floyd’s side in a court battle between the band and its label, EMI, and digital downloads are at stake. The band says its 11-year-old contract only permits EMI to sell complete albums, not individual tracks, but the label has been offering downloads of individual songs through online services like iTunes. The word “record” was used in the contract, which EMI believes implies physical media.
